A Guide to Ontario Childcare Fee Subsidy

You may qualify for a child care fee subsidy for your child early learning child care program as long as:

Be living in Toronto or moving to Toronto
Be working or going to school, if your child has special needs, exception may apply
Have filled your previous year's income tax return
Family composition is a key part of assessing child care, decision-making responsibilities in place, and other living arrangements

To apply, you will need:

Your Canada Revenue Agency, Notice of Assessment (NOA) or Notice of Reassessment. (To replace a NOA call 1-800-959-8281)

The amount you pay for a childcare is based on your annual net income which is identified on line 236 of your Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment.

The parental contribution towards the cost of childcare for a family receiving fee subsidy is zero if family income is under $20000. Over $20000, it is 10 percent of income over $20000. Over $40000, is there is an additional 20 percent for incomes.

To calculate your net income, subtract any federal Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) payments (the UCCB is not considered in determining a family's childcare fee subsidy).
